Mallory Van Horn
Practice Lead, Quality Improvement
Mallory Van Horn leads health management and operations (HM&O) for Optum Advisory Services. This includes the Claims, Group and Member Services, Network and Provider Management Services, and Quality Improvement consulting practices that work with clients to identify and capitalize on cost reduction and revenue capture opportunities.
Mallory has more than 20 years of health care experience. Her primary focus has been on quality improvement, performance measurement and reporting including NCQA HEDIS® and CAHPS®. In addition, she has spent the past several years primarily focused on Medicare Star ratings and value-based care initiatives as the Quality Improvement practice lead.
Prior to joining Optum Advisory Services, Mallory served as the national HEDIS director of UnitedHealthcare Community and State. In that role, she had accountability for over 80 HEDIS and CAHPS submissions on an annual basis.
In addition, she served as the manager of Informatics Consulting for APS Healthcare. She oversaw quality data analysis initiatives for both the Oklahoma and Florida state Medicaid programs.
Mallory holds a Bachelor of Arts in American studies from Wellesley College and a master’s in public health from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. She also earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Oklahoma Price College of Business.
