Multi-tenant platform on a secure cloud
The Optum platform is pre-built for multiple state tenants, which is much more efficient and cost effective than a custom build. Data is stored on a secure cloud environment where each state tenant's data is kept separate from all other tenants.
COTS technology that is evergreen
Our platform is built from commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software that is proven in managed care, making implementation lower risk than a traditional MMIS. Evergreen means Optum is responsible for maintaining the system for federal regulatory and technology changes.
Flexible, configurable and interoperable
Optum modules can interoperate with other Medicaid vendors and existing state systems, allowing states the flexibility to purchase the specific modules they need. We can configure the modules according to a state's unique Medicaid requirements in about 15-18 months.
